What purpose does elementary education serve in our society?
I tutor a student who needs to write a 4-5 page paper on three purposes of elementary education. To me, the topic seems a bit general, and therefore hard to write about (know what I mean?). If I had some ideas, it sure would help this student. Thanks.

- 1. To teach the beginning student basic processes and skill to learning. 2. To teach basic concepts which can be added to and expounded. 3. To create within the student the desire to discover (learn).
- Well there's the whole learning to read thing. Can't really function in society without that. Elementary education is also the first "socializing" institution - it teaches kids how to behave, act, interact, follow rules, responsibility etc. .. . Elementary education is also diverse in its material and it is where students, parents, and teachers first discover a child's "gift" - music, sports, academics, class clown, etc . . . .
- To build a foundation to learn more.
- Elementary Education Elementary Education serves three major purposes in our society; to give the student a basic foundation for learning the core subjects, to help the student learn about their environment and society, to help foster a student's interest in duty and responsibility within one's own community through various activities. *This is an opening paragraph. It can be expanded upon, for length, to make a full page intro. The second page will discuss how education gives a student a basic foundation... The third page will discuss how it helps the student learn about the environment and society... The fourth page will discuss how it fosters interest in community through socializing activities... *The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pages should include explanations and examples for clarity. *The 5th page is the conclusion, and it should basically restate the what has already been covered in the paper, and any additional thoughts on the paper.
