Is it more beneficial to have a degree in History or History Education? I *do* want to teach someday (after I finish my degree) but I am not sure where. If I get my degree in History Ed. I *know* I will be certified for *that* state, but is it transferable to other states? What about out of the country? And if I get my degree in History alone, what kind of certification process do I have to undergo to become a teacher (in most states)? What about out of the country? Any info you have will be helpful..
Need help on my history of education paper? I need to find websites with good timelines for important events in educational history. We're basically writing a timeline with important events from different periods in educational history in the United States. Thank you for your help!
In USA, do you have world history in the basic education programmes? I Watched the trailer of the new disney picture bevely hills Chihuahua ,The narrator describes his ancestors' fight alongside the Aztec civilization, while showing an aerial view of Machu Picchu, an Incan site located in Peru, South America. What kind of ignorant do such thing? In USA, do you have world history in the basic education programmes?
How did education change in history from being family based? Many years ago education used to be the responsibility of the family -- parents, grandparents, etc. etc. In 1746 a man, Jean Jacques Rousseau, abandoned his new-born baby on the steps of an orphanage. He did the same thing in the coming years with four more children. They could have all died in the cold! This man, Rousseau, became a famous "education" philosopher that influenced modern day public schools. The snow-ball effect of abandoning children to the care of others has diminished the role of the family in many areas. God bless home-schoolers for trying to bring back to the family a nuturing and caring relationship through education and life choices! http://kevinswanson.com/Articles/ReversingRousseau/Index.html It's all in the world-view of the thinker... Bible history pre-dates Plato, Socrates, and it also defines the Greeks, the Athenians, etc. Mose, Abraham, Solomon and hundreds before, in-between and after. My world view starts with the evidence of creation by God. The very first school in known history would be the home-education of Adam's family.
History/Government Secondary Education to Law School? I am currently majoring in Secondary Education with emphasis on History/Government. I have always considered going into law as well. Is it possible/smart to major in secondary education and then go to law school if I feel as though I want to? Thanks
Why is European education system excluding science from history? They are teaching their kids that political statements like so-called Armenian genocide is a proven historical fact, whereas well-respected historians are rejecting this opinion and saying that history requires documents, i.e. facts, not hearsay or racist prejudice. Isn't this degeneration in their education system? How can we void the same fate? I gave you a thumbs up, Frank, but be frank and admit it: if "Greek Empire" did "conquests" not "invasion" some 2,500 years back, then the "Ottoman Empire" did "conquests" not "invasion", too. Fair is fair.
History major - online college vs regular education? Hello everyone! I would like to be a high school teacher but I don't know if it's "enough" to earn online degrees in History and Education for that. As a transfer student, it would be easier to go to online college but do you think online degrees can be equally accepted?
Since the Dept of Education budget is the highest in history? And we continually get extremely poor results from our teachers regardless of budget levels, And research has shown teachers consistently score the lowest of all college applicants on both SAT and ACT admission tests when applying to college, Is our thinking flawed to use graduates from Universities with Colleges of Education as our teachers. An alternative would be use a Biology, Chemistry, etc graduates for teaching science, History majors to teach history and so on. You know, pay people to teach who actually studied their subjects. Today we hire the worst college applicants who studied nothing more than how to teach. Apparently poor student in = poor teacher out. BTW - The rigid qualification to get a teaching position - a degree, a teaching certificate and most of the time, the ability to suck up to the priciple of the school you interned at. And david R if having an instructor with a degree in teaching is the "prefered" way, why aren't college students at any level subjected to their drivel? I'd really like my heart surgeon to have been taught angioplasty by one of these dolts. How about you?
