Thanks so much. I was also thinking of becoming a principal of an elementary or high school after some time.

What can I do with a degree in elementary education besides teach? I am going to graduate in May with a degree in Elementary Education. Throughout my student teaching I have decided teaching is really not for me. I don't have the money to get another degree so I'm trying to find a job that uses my current degree, but that is not teaching. I enjoy art (photography) and the outdoors, but my parents are not supportive in these careers because they say I won't make enough money and that they didn't send me to school to not have a job. What ideas do you have for a possible career using an elementary ed degree and my other interests?

What is the difference between a degree in early childhood education and elementary education? I recently talked to a representative from The College of New Jersey, and was told that early childhood education gives you a degree to teach from pre-k through fifth grade, while elementary really only gives a fourth grade to fifth or sixth. I downloaded the study guide from the State of Colorado, but it wasn't much help. Does anyone know of a good resourse to use for review for this test? Is the PLACE state exam easier than the national exam?

Can I use myself as a bargaining chip to get my girlfriend a job in elementary education? So, here is my situation. I am a guy going into special education elementary....there practically no males going into special education(Ive noticed from my class sizes). However, there are plenty of female elementary education majors. So, when I graduate 2 years from now. Can I used myself as a "Bargaining chip." Can I explain to districts that I can't work for them unless they can provide her with a job? You guys are all morons. Sorry. a.) Special Education is in high demand...I dont know who told you otherwise b.) Do some researching and talk to some teachers. They are DYING for male teachers at the elementary level. I am one of 2 special ed majors in all my education specific classes(40 in a class). Whats that tell you?? c.) I really don't see how jerky it is to request a district to maybe take a look at my girlfriends application again. If a district that is desperate like Phoenix really wants me out there...then I need some motivation as I can get a job practicially anywhere.

I am even considering a different career field, after all I do have an associate degree that is a good start right?

What can I do with an earned Associate of Arts with emphasis on Elementary Education? I know I could pursue a Bachelor of Science to teach, but is there anything I can be doing in the meantime to make some money, besides being a Paraprofessional/Teacher's Assistant? I am currently continuing my education, but I cannot help to wonder what else I could be doing or if I should change my degree emphasis before getting into my core requirements.
What can you do with a degree in elementary education besides teach? I am curious if there are other ways to go with this. I have had the degree over 10 years and have taught occasionally, but never really felt like this was for me. I now have 3 young children and work part time (just for a paycheck, not because I like it) and am interested in picking up a career again once they are all in school (about 2 years) I like writing (but not sure how good I am) and working on anything creative. I am very bad at art and drawing but like to think of new ideas and stories. I would love to work with PBS and do something with Children's television, either writing or working for the local station in some capacity. Any thoughts? Thanks to everyone who wrote a helpful answer. I will ignore the unhelpful one. I liked everyone else's suggestions so far. I am thinking of going to a local writers club, once I have some writing done. I plan on researching PBS as well. I'll check in later.
